Examining the Structural Relationships of New Communication and Information Technologies, Organizational Structure and Firm Performance: An Analysis of Consultant Engineers Firms (CEF) in Iran

The purpose of this paper is to study the interrelationships among new information and communication technologies (ICT), organizational structure and firm performance. A twenty-minute pen and paper questionnaire was distributed to managers and experts of Consultant Engineering Firms in Tehran through a nonprobability, convenience-sampling approach. Reliability and validity of the measurement scale were established through Cronbach’s alpha analyses and confirmatory factor analysis. A structural equation model (SEM) test with maximum likelihood estimation was performed to test the relationship among the research variables using 252 participants. The empirical results from the structural model suggest that: (1) ICT positively influences organizational structure; (2) ICT positively influences firm performance; and (3) organizational structure positively influences firm performance. Implications and future research issues were discussed.
